(Public) Political Philosopher interested in arguments (about arguments)

My research concerns the nature, methods, and purposes of political philosophy. Early work combined history, political science, and moral psychology, leading to the twin theories of mentalism and normative behaviourism. Later work built on this, helping to establish methodology as its own full and fruitful field within our discipline, both intellectually and institutionally. Today, I continue to work on both these fronts, whilst also trying to theorise (and practise) public political philosophy.

Books from 2011 (when I was teaching PPE); Cats from 2021 (when I was wearing it). Working towards a day when those letters mean Political Philosophy for Everyone.
